The website identifies a list of exemplary local cases that demonstrate an emerging trend of value-driven creative practice beyond the conventional art marketplace. By experimenting with a range of alternative models of sustainability, these projects strive to reach out to diverse demographics while pursuing their social goals. The merits of such projects should be considered with regard to both artistic and social criteria. The website serves as a sustainable drive to promote such practices by connecting the practitioners to potential supporters.

In addition, a number of prototyping projects were developed by art graduates from their graduation projects (MA in Visual Arts at the Hong Kong Baptist University – Academy of Visual Arts), into potentially sustainable undertakings. Enterprising is proven to be challenging for art graduates, as the vast range of skills needed is beyond the existing scope of training in art schools. This can be overcome by expanding cross-disciplinary learning, mentorship and collaboration, as well as other infrastructural support, eg. cultivation of consumers who are receptive to value-driven creative outputs, clustering to facilitate collaboration, more imaginative expansion of “market place”, etc.

The website is part of a research titled “Hacking Capitalism – Socially Engaged Art through Alternative Art Economies and Social Entrepreneurship”, conducted by the Hong Kong Baptist University – Academy of Visual Arts.
